FUNCTIONAL BALANCEWhen our internal wiring or control system is in trouble, it can be like playing snooker on a table with dips in it – the ball doesn’t go where we aim it. If one part of the brain is out of kilter, the effects can ripple through the whole organism. As life’s traumas build up, they colour the way we perceive the world. Brain training is designed to interrupt the habitual unconscious responses that keep us tied to the past, leading the brain to assess the current circumstances instead of carrying on with outdated responses. Conditions clearly associated with disrupted brain regulation include the Autistic spectrum, Tourette’s, OCD, Tinnitus, facial or body tics and tremors. A few examples of functional trouble are attention difficulty, speech impediments, sleep disorders, sexual dysfunction, and migraines. Brain balancing has been shown in laboratory studies to stimulate neurogenesis – rebuilding neural networks damaged by stroke or injury. Resist the message that nothing can be done, and discover what self regulation has to offer. For studies and research papers, look in More Info section, Research Links page.
